Perfect Day For a Picnic

My Mom Rocks! This year the Easter bunny brought me what Mom called an "Adult" basket (giggles from my 17-year-old sister ensued). It was an adorable picnic basket complete with plates, cups, silverware, a blanket, and a Wal-Mart gift card to buy the food. She threw tons of candy and some miniature Little Mermaid figurines in there so I could stop feeling so old. Today my fiancé and I took advantage of our Easter treat. We went to Boyer park and it was overcast but warm enough to just need a sweater and a boy to snuggle with. Perks of a cloudy day included zero bugs, and the park nearly all to ourselves. We chowed on mac-n-cheese, mashed potatoes, barbeque chicken, and mountain dew.

(Note bendy straws and that Philip's potatoes were gone before I could even take the picture)

We retreated to the car for some Angel food cake with cool whip...

Which Philip thoroughly enjoyed...

We saw a blue heron--at least that's what I'm convinced it was; this is as close as I could get before he flew away (sad face).

And we walked along the beach. Picnics are on our list of things that are always romantic, and when you're about to get married, everything's doubley romantic.

Stay tuned for this basket, as you may see it again at my wedding, featured as the holder for any cards that people may or may not bring, which may or may not contain warm words and/or money.

You and your Mom both rock. She made the basket but you brought it to completion by using it to create a wonderful day filled with great memories.

Love you, Grams
